Fantastic Recipes for Power Smoothies

Total Juice Power Smoothie

1/2 cup seedless grapes
3 strawberries
1 slice cantaloupe (about 1/2 cup) rind removed, seeds optional
1 orange (rind removed, halved)
1/4 small apple
1 thick slice pineapple (about 1 cup), rind removed
1/4 banana (peeled)
1 tbsp. honey (optional)
3 to 4 tbsps. Whole Nectar Ultimate Soy Protein Smoothie Mix
1-1/2 cups ice

Makes about 4 cups.

Directions:
Place all ingredients in the Vita-Mix container in the order listed. Secure the lid. Select Variable #1, turn to ON and quickly increase speed to #10. Run about 20 seconds until smooth. Use the tamper if necessary to help circulate ingredients.


Cantaloupe Peach Orange Power Smoothie

1/3 cup Baccardi Real Fruit Fuzzy Navel frozen concentrate
1 Scoop Whole Nectar Smoothie Mix
1/2 cup cantaloupe (with seeds for extra nutritional boost)
1/2 orange
1 1/4 to 1-3/4 cups ice

Directions: Place all ingredients in the Vita-Mix container in the order listed. Secure the lid. Select Variable #1, turn to ON and quickly increase speed to #10. Run about 20 seconds until smooth. Use the tamper if necessary to help circulate ingredients.

Nutritional Highlights: Many people eat pumpkin seeds, so it shouldn't seem odd to eat melon seeds, too. After all, melon and pumpkin are close relatives in the same botanical family. While very nutritious, go easy on them because seeds are high in fat just like nuts.


Coffee Almond Power Smoothie

If you typically start the day with coffee and a bagel, why not "bump it up" with this power iced cappuccino. Almonds, oats and high protein smoothie mix bring this blend up a whole new level beyond the typical iced coffee.

3/4 cup Pacific vanilla almond beverage
1 tsp. Vanilla
1/8 tsp. Almond extract
2 tbsp. Honey
1 scoop Whole Nectar Smoothie Mix
3/4 tbsp. Coffee crystals
1/3 cup oatmeal (right out of the box, uncooked)
5 almonds
1-1/2 to 2 cups ice

A tablespoon of toasted wheat germ is a great addition to this smoothie.

Nutrition Highlights: If you like coffee, the good news is that no valid study has ever associated negative health effects with moderate coffee drinking. Coffee does not contribute any nutrition, however, so don't let it take the place of healthy meals and snacks.
